Amateur Radio Station VE3EFC

Hex Beam Antenna

Installed June 30, 2006

I designed my Hex Beam for tri-band operation on the 10/15/20 meter bands.  One unusual feature is the three bands connect to a common feed point.  I have been very happy with the performance on all three bands. This antenna is still in place and operation in November 2015.  This amount to almost ten years of operation without problems.  I am surpised the cheap fiberglass poles and dacron ropes have lasted this long in their flexed position.

Note common feed point

All three band’s driven elements taper to a single feed point.  The reflector elements mimic the driven elements.

Tower and Rotator

Tower is a 2x6 wood plank, connected to brick chimney using Tapcon screws.  Mast is a metal pipe through a plastic sleeve.  Rotator is from Radio Shack.
